Mrs. Susan Hollis Williams, 84, of 1186 India Hook Road, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Westminster Rehabilitation.The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. John's United Methodist Church, with Revs. Larry Hays, Sarah King, and Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. Burial will take place prior to the service, at 1 p.m., in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.A native of Chester County, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Daniel Saye Hollis Sr. and the late Maude McFadden Hollis. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for 55 years. She was a past president for the United Methodist Women, lifetime circle member, and the first church hostess for St. John's UMC. She retired as postmaster of Winthrop College with 20 years of service. She also was past president of the ladies' auxiliary for the SC Chapter of Postal Clerks. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and the widow of James Earl Williams Sr. Mrs. Williams is survived by her sons, James Earl Williams Jr. and wife, Wylette, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Robert Hollis Williams and wife, Olivia, of Simpsonville, S.C.; her brother, Neely McFadden Hollis, and wife, Lillian, of Dalton, Ga.; her sister, Martha Hollis Williams of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, Sharon Williams Alexander and husband Robin, William Michael Williams, Robert Hollis Williams Jr. and wife Patricia, and Lera Williams Jackson and husband Steven; and three great-grandchildren, Lera Martha Jackson, Amelia Elizabeth Jackson and Victoria Susan Jackson. She was predeceased by her grandson, James Earl Williams III; her brother, Daniel Saye Hollis Jr.; and sisters, Annie James Hollis Coker, Mary Hollis Farris, and Maude Hollis Shannon. The family will receive friends following the service in Huddleston Hall at St. John's United Methodist Church, and other times at the home, 1186 India Hook Road, Rock Hill. Memorials may be sent to Saint John's United Methodist Church, 321 South Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
