Susan Martin September 7, 1909- April 27, 2009 Susan Martin, 101, a former resident of Hamden, passed away Monday morning, April 27, 2009, at Susquehanna Nursing Home, Johnson City, after a long illness. Susan was born in Trenton, NJ on September 7, 1907, the daughter of the late Michael and Susan (Mento) Kostrub. On April 30, 1927 she married her childhood sweetheart, Stephen Martin. He died in 1974. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm at Hawley Station in Hamden. She was a former member of the Hamden Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed knitting, and loved spending time with her children, grand and great-grandchildren. Susan is survived by her son, Stephen Martin, Deposit; daughter-in-law, Marcella Martin, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Martin; and a grandson, Terrance Martin. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery.
