PETERSON _ Susan Linda (nee Wickson) died of the complications of her cancer on April 13, 2007. She is predeceased by her mother, Jocelyn Wickson. She is survived by her husband Murray, daughter Jodi, son Torrey, father Walter Wickson (Corinne), her brothers Rob Wickson (Claudia) and Mark Wickson (Pat) and step sisters Elise Wickson (Wayne Little) and Margot Briggs (Geoff) and many nieces and nephews. She is also lovingly remembered by brother-in-law Art Peterson (Karen) and her many friends and colleagues. Susan completed her Master of Science Degree at Dalhousie University and in 1970 began the Diploma for Learning and Behaviour Disorders at the University of British Columbia. Her love of teaching and learning guided her through a varied career in education. She began her career teaching a Special Education class in Princeton before moving to Kamloops in 1972 and marrying Murray. They moved to Burnaby in 1974 to accept teaching positions with the Burnaby School District. As a skilled and dedicated teacher, Susan taught in a variety of settings: special education, primary and intermediate grades, and kindergarten. In 1990, Susan undertook another Diploma at UBC and spent the remaining years of her career as a Teacher-Librarian. Susan was a loving wife and mother, a supportive friend and a respected teacher. Her wisdom, positive spirit and her kind and loving nature will not be forgotten. Her family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital who provided such compassionate care for Susan in the last four months of her life, and to the staff of the BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver who tried so valiantly to find a way to halt the progress of her disease. A Celebration of her life will take place at the Glenbrook Park Amenities Centre, 76 Jamieson Court, New Westminster on Wednesday, April 25th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation (for the Palliative Care unit), to the BC Cancer Agency or to your local school library.
