MARTIN, Susan Jones Born March 22, 1951. Passed away peacefully July 18, 2013 at her home in Hendersonville, TN. She is survived by her husband, John Martin and was the daughter of Lawrence and Virginia Bryan Jones (both deceased). Susan was a native of LaGrange, Georgia; long-time resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee and former resident of Greenville, South Carolina. Susan was a vivacious, fun-loving person who was loved by all who met her. Susan attended college at Georgia Southern where she was a Kappa Delta. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism. Susan is survived by her daughters, Bryan Rachel Miller and Jamie Shuford and her son, J.G. Martin II. She was the grandmother to four precious grandchildren, Ford, Lucy & Henry Miller and Jay Shuford. Susan was also a long-time caregiver to her mother and father-in-law, Marjorie and Jim Martin. She is also survived by her son-in-laws who adored her, Greg Miller and Adam Shuford; her sister, Patsy Crews; sister-in law, Janice Martin; brother-in-laws, Fred Crews and Jimmy Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews as well. She was lovingly attended to by her physician and friend, Dr. Thomas B. Miller. Special mention should also be made of her friends, "the Sistas" and her long-time Bunko group. Susan worked for years helping others achieve their goals as a personal trainer. She was a member of Hendersonville First Presbyterian Church where she served as a children's Sunday School teacher for 20 years. Her special ministry was to feed the homeless at the Downtown Presbyterian Church in Nashville the second Sunday of every month. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Life Celebration service will be held on Saturday, 1 p.m. at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Davis of Hendersonville First Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-12 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Day School (172 West Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075).
