Mrs. Susan E. Davis, 84, Battlefield, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010, in her home with family at her side. She was born February 24, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward B. and Lilian (Klimple) Weisler. She was united in marriage to Robert A. "Bob" Davis on June 29, 1946 and they were blessed with five children. Susan dedicated her life to caring for their family, including involvement in the children's school and church activities. Susan was a member of St. John's Chapel United Church of Christ in Springfield and was familiar to the Battlefield community as "The Clown Lady". She was given this name due to her giving handmade clowns at Halloween instead of candy. A 6-week-old infant son, Danny; her parents; and a brother, preceded Susan in death. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; four children and their spouses, Dennis and Judy Davis, Mansura, La., Jerry and Sandra Davis, Republic, Mo., Robert, Jr. and Laura Davis, Battlefield, Mo., and Peggy and Robert Flex, Dickinson, Texas; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings and their spouses, Edward and Delores Weisler, St. Louis, Mo., Betty and Edward Merryman, Gloucester, Va., and Jean and Caryl Leonard, Phoenix, Ariz; other extended family and friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Rev. Becky Hebert officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
