Stephanie M. Smith, 84, died on Feb. 27, 2011, at home.Mrs. Smith was born in Tarrytown, N.Y., on April 13, 1926. Mrs. Smith was a life-long homemaker and Navy wife. She did work as a secretary during World War II and at various times partnered with her husband operating resorts in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. Mrs. Smith was a founding member of the Church of the Epiphany, Jacksonville. and, until unable to travel, a congregant of Christ Church, Ponte Vedra Beach. Mrs. Smith was married for 60 years to her husband, Dwight. Mrs. Smith is survived by her two sons, Dennis A. Smith and wife, Bettye, of St. Augustine, and Dwight R. Smith Jr. and wife, Linda, of Clearwater, Fla. She is also survived by two grandsons, Eiren K. Smith, wife, Auri, and great-granddaughter Leyna of Dunedin, Fla., and Dennis R. (Rudy) Smith of Beaufort, S.C., and many other loving family and friends.The family will receive relatives and friends at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N (www.hardage-giddenschapelhills.com) beginnign at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow the service in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
