1928-2014 HALLOWELL - Stella J. Jordan, 85, passed away at the Woodlands Assisted Living Center in Hallowell on Sunday, April 6, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born in South Gardiner on June 3, 1928, a daughter of Willard and Muriel Sisk. Stella was educated in Gardiner schools. In 1941, she married Stanley Jordan, and together they had five children. She worked for many years at Zayres and Ames department stores in the fabric department until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, rug making and taking care of her flower gardens. Stella loved traveling to Pemaquid Lighthouse and searching for sea glass. She loved being with her friends, as they brought her a lifetime of joy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley "Stan" Jordan, in 1998; by an infant daughter, Joyce Jordan; by a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Jordan; by her parents; and brother-in-law Phil Jordan. She is survived by three children: two sons, Robert Jordan and fiancée Elise Marshall, of Vassalboro, and Clayton Jordan and wife Beth, of Whitefield, and a daughter, Stephanie Toman, and her companion, Todd McKenna, of Brunswick; her grandchildren; Michael Jordan and Jennifer Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Aaron Jordan; a sister-in-law, Barbara Jordan; and by her three lifelong special friends Mildred Pickens, Shirley Eldridge and Phyllis MacCloud. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Staples Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
