HART Sr. Mary Teresa (Sr. Robert Marie), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Friday, November 13, 2009, at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ, at the age of 92.Sr. Mary Teresa was born in Cambridge, NJ, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Philbin) Hart. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1934 and was a member for 75 years. Sr. Mary Teresa was an educator in New Jersey and Massachusetts. She served at Sacred Heart, Rochelle Park, from 1936 to 1942, St. Mary Orphanage, Newark, from 1942 to 1947, St. Paul of the Cross, Jersey City, from 1947 to 1949, St. Mary Magdalen, Millville, NJ, from 1949 to 1951, St. Mary School, Dumont, from 1951 to 1955, St. Teresa, Summit, from 1961 to 1963, Holy Trinity, Hackensack from 1971 to 1989, and Our Lady of the Visitation School, Paramus, from 1989 to 1995. She served as Principal at Immaculate Conception School, Elizabeth, from 1955 to 1961, St. Catharine, Glen Rock, from 1963 to 1969 and Blessed Sacrament, Jamaica Plains, MA, from 1969 to 1971. Sr. Mary Teresa served as a tutor through the Caritas Connection ESL Program at St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic, from 1995 to 2001. Sr. Mary received her B.S. Degree in Education from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ, and her MA in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University, South Orange. Sister Mary Teresa retired to Holy Trinity Convent, Hackensack in 2001 before moving to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2004 where she resided until her death in 2009.She is survived by one sister Geneviene Glatthorn, Ventnor, NJ, three nephews, two nieces and grandnieces and grandnephews.The wake for Sr. Mary will be held in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ, from 2 – 5:30 PM on Monday, November 16, 2009, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 6 PM. Burial will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station, NJ, at 10 AM.In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ, 07961-0476. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dangler Funeral Home, Summit, NJ.
