Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Crestwood Chapel for Sivola Sue Smith, 96, Gadsden, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008. Chaplain Shawn Sims will officiate. Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home is in charge.Mrs. Smith was born May 9, 1912, to Van and Minnie Robinson in Blount County. She was one of 11 children. She lived most of her life in Gadsden.She was married to Charlie "Nick" Smith for 60 years until his death in January 2004. She was a member of Dwight Baptist Church. She was retired from the Dwight Cotton Mill.She is survived by her sisters, Mildred Simmons, Gadsden, Christine Powell, Mobile, and Margaree Murrey, Boaz. She was never blessed with children, but had a host of nieces and nephews who loved her.She loved flowers so much that she could never stand to see them cut, so at her request, please do not send any flowers.Pallbearers will be family and friends.The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Southern Care Hospice, and especially to Jamie Ellis and Lisa Smith, also to Bessie Watts, Janice Washington and Daisey Biship for all their care.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home today.
