Ryan, SSND, SR. PatriciaSister Patricia Ryan, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, died on July 28,2014, at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, Connecticut, at age 90. Patricia was born on June 19, 1924, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Ryan who immigrated from counties Galway and Kerry, Ireland. There were six children, five girls and one boy.After pronouncing her vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame in 1949, Patricia began teaching at St. Joseph School in New York City. She taught at Madonna School in Fort Lee, New Jersey, St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, Maryland, Notre Dame Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Notre Dame Prep School in Baltimore. Patricia also worked in the Finance office at Notre Dame Prep for 20 years. She came to live at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton in 2001 and moved to Lourdes in 2011.Two of her sisters became School Sisters of Notre Dame: Mary Elizabeth (Leontia) and Geraldine (Alvinia). Her brother, John, became a Redemptorist priest. They are now deceased. Another sister Eileen Ryan is also deceased. Sister Patricia is survived by her sister Louise Ryan Lynch of South Yarmouth, Mass. She is also mourned by nieces, nephews and their families, and by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.Friends may call at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road in Wilton, Connecticut on Wednesday, July 30 from 3:00-7:30 p.m. with a Christian wake service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Villa Notre Dame.
