Her musical education was continued at the Pius X School and the Justine Ward Academy. In 1941, she received a Bachelor's degree in Music from Manhattanville College of the Scared Heart. In 1933, she entered the Ursuline community and after her novitiate at Beacon, NY, where she pronounced her vows in 1936, came to the community at the College of New Rochelle and lived there from 1936 to 1958 and again from 1973 to 2000. She was a member of the community at the Convent of St. Ursula in New Rochelle from 1959 to 1971. In retirement, she was at the Marian Residence before moving to Andrus in January of 2005. She received a Master's degree in musicology with a specialty in Liturgical music from The Catholic University of America in 1949. The major focus of her entire ministry became the study and teaching of church music and the performance of it with every age group from elementary school through college and into parish life. She was on the faculty at The College of New Rochelle from 1936 to 1958 and chaired the department of music 1956 to 1958. She taught and directed choirs at The Ursuline School, and Ursuline Academy on the Concourse. One of her great delights was working with the choir at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle form 1977 to 1988. By participating in the Archdiocesan liturgy committee, she was instrumental in helping parishes implement the changes in liturgical celebration initiated by Vatican Council II. Her passion for the best in church music is remembered by all who knew her.
