Sister Mary Brigid Moroney, (Bridget Therese), 92, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Mass., in her 74th year, died at St. Joseph Kervick Residence, Rutland, Vt., on Sunday, September 12th, 2010. Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, she was the daughter of Michael and Ellen (Casey) Moroney. Sr. Mary Brigid received her early education in Ireland. She earned a B.A. degree from Regis College, Weston, Mass., and a M.A. degree from Boston College. Sister entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rutland, Vt., in 1936 from Assumption Parish, Ballyporeen, County Tipperary. She became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Mass., in 2001 when the two communities merged. She taught at Mount St. Joseph School and Christ the King School, Rutland, Vt., and taught and served as principal at St. Michael School, Brattleboro. Sister also served terms in congregational leadership as president and vice president. Later, she was coordinator of Mount St. Joseph Convent where she was also engaged in prayer ministry. She retired at Mount St. Joseph Convent in 2004. In addition to her sisters in community, she leaves several nephews, nieces and cousins. The wake will take place on Thursday, September 16th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Chapel, 129 Convent Ave., Rutland, Vt.
