MANCHESTER -- Sister Laurette Michaud, CSC, (Sister Mary Martin of the Sacred Heart), 93, of the Sisters of Holy Cross in Manchester, died Dec. 8, 2010, at Holy Cross Health Center. She was born in Somersworth on June 9, 1917, to Albert and Anna (Hebert) Michaud. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1940 and made her final profession in 1947. She served the Congregation for 70 years. She taught at St. Therese School in Manchester and was secretary at the Congregational Office of Studies in St. Laurent, Quebec, from 1946 to 1968, and for the president of Notre Dame College in Manchester from 1968 to 1977. Before retiring, she cared for her aging and partially blind mother in Somersworth. She will be remembered for her deep prayer life. Family members include four nephews, Bernard Michaud of Somersworth, William Michaud of North Carolina, David Michaud of Florida and Denis Michaud of Maine; and one niece, Diane Michaud of Somersworth. SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel at St. George Manor. Burial will be at St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
