TODD, Mrs. Shirley Anne Broadnax made her peaceful transition from her earthly home to her glorious heavenly home on Sunday, December 16, 2012. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11:00 A.M., at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 725 Augusta Avenue, Montgomery, AL, with Reverend (Dr.) Willie G. Broadnax, officiating. Interment will be the Greenwood (Serenity Gardens) Cemetery, Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. Shirley blessed the union of Deacon Leon G. Broadnax (deceased) and Mrs. Jessie M. Ellington Broadnax on February 14, 1950, as the fourth of five children. Shirley united in holy matrimony to Otis L. Todd of Birmingham, AL, and this union produced three children who will forever cherish her memories, Otis Leander Todd, Montgomery, AL, Jessica Christanne Todd-Wright (Sgt Darryl) of Fort Drum, NY; Nicole V. Todd, Montgomery, AL; and because of her love for children, she further extended her family with the adoption of one of her foster sons, Semajion T. Todd, of Montgomery, AL; other children, whom she loved and helped to steer in the right direction, cherishing her memories are her two extended sons, who called her mother, Derrick and Wendsor Todd, both of Birmingham, AL, four grandchildren, Xavier Todd, Darryl Jr., Arianna Wright, and Chasity Crumpton-Wright, of Fort Drum, NY; seven extended grandchildren, Ferguson, Marquese, Brianna, Derrick Jr., Ajaiyah, Anaiyah and Chloe Todd, Birmingham, AL; her mother, Mrs. Jessie M. Broadnax, Montgomery, AL; three sisters, Mrs. Marsha B. Sankey, Montgomery, AL, Mrs. Louise B. Singleton, St Louis, MO, Mrs. Doris B. Globe, Montgomery, AL; four brothers, Mr. Robert Broadnax, and Reverend (Dr.) Willie G. Broadnax, both of Montgomery, AL; Mr. Leon Broadnax of Tampa, FL, and Mr. Lewis Broadnax, St. Louis, MO; one dearly beloved friend, whom she loved as a sister, Mrs. Wilma Howard, Montgomery, AL; one uncle, Mr. Joseph C. (Leola) Broadnax, Montgomery, AL; A multitude of children she has nourished and sometimes served as a foster mother; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to the staff of the Southeast Cancer Clinic and the doctors and staff at Jackson Hospital. The processional will leave from 107 West Edgemont Avenue.
