Shirley Ruth Jones Smith, age 53, of 545 Sullivan Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in her home. She was born in Spartanburg County, and was the daughter of Maggie Mae Jones Hughes of Enoree and the late Hilton Jones. Mrs. Smith got her degree in nursing and was an honor student listed in Who's Who of Nursing. She was a former House Supervisor at Self Regional Hospital, and for 15 years was House Supervisor at Laurens County Healthcare. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Terry Lee Smith of Laurens; a daughter, Angela Denise Smith of Clinton; a brother, Michael Wesley of Woodruff; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Darlene Kay and Billy Hughes of Laurens and Robbie Lee Swink of Laurens; two half-brothers, Todd Hughes and Joe Hughes of Enoree; special friends, Wesley Davis and Jonathan Smith, both of Clinton; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton, with interment at the Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
