Shirley Mae Wells, 66, North Vernon, died at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Wells had attended school in Scipio. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Born Dec. 29, 1940, in Scipio, she was a daughter of Harold Vinson and Hazel Mae Stinson Hines, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 11, 1958, in Vernon, she married Noel F. Wells, who preceded her in death March 3, 1998. Survivors include six sons, Curtis (Trish) Wells, Dennis (Cristina) Wells and Eugene (Shana) Wells, all of North Vernon, and Kenneth (Kim) Wells, Dwight (Missy) Wells and David (Jeri) Wells, all of Seymour; two daughters, Teresa Golden and Sheila (Mark) Richart, both of North Vernon; a brother, Harold Hines Jr., Scipio; four sisters, Nancy Kirchner, Belinda Brooks and Carolyn Biddinger, all of North Vernon, and Sarah Petro, Scipio; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wells, on March 29, 2007; a sister, Rebecca Jane Petro, on Aug. 23, 1999; and a grandson, Noel Raymond Richart, on Nov. 3, 2006. The Rev. Jon Beck will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery.
