Shirley Mae King 1938 2008 Shirley Mae (Thompson) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the age of 69 years at St. Paul's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her five children and fourteen grandchildren, Jim King (Janice Hale), Megan and James; Janice (Larry) St. Germain, Becky and Nicole; Judy (Greg) Willey, Sammy, Liz and Mitch; Jerry (Melody) King, Taneil, Alexis, Ryan and Courtney; Joanne (Jay) Hrycuik, Jessica, Brooklyn and Joshua. Also her siblings, Ruth (Irv) Stevens, Ley Thompson (Anne McLeod), Debbie (Rick) Hales; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 1996, and by her parents, Art and Alice Thompson. Shirley was born on the family farm near Imperial, SK on August 13, 1938. She received her education in Imperial and later in Saskatoon where she moved with her parents and her family in 1948. She worked at Eaton's where she met Alex. They were married on June 1, 1957 in Saskatoon where they resided and raised their family. Shirley loved to read, watch television game shows, play bingo, and trips to the casino with her family. With special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Paul's Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK with Rev. Carlton Miller officiating. Interment of ashes will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.
