TUSCALOOSA Shirley Jean White Cox, age 61, of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully September 13, 2013 at her home. Services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Vernon Swift officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing. Visitation will be today from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home with family and friends hour from 5 to 6 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff White, Sr. and Bertha Gaynell White; a sister, Jewette White; and a stepbrother, Obaddish Brooks.She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, Wilbur P. Cox, Jr.; daughter, Felicia F. Cox; son, Ontiveros L. Cox; three sisters, Beatrice White, Veronica Lee, both of Tuscaloosa, and Levone Walton of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Jeff White, Jr.; one stepbrother, Herochious Brooks (Regina), both of Tuscaloosa; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Madison and Willie Dean Avery (Michael), both of Tuscaloosa; six grandchildren, Shanquella, Kameron, Nicholas, Kaylix, Kaila and Thaddeus; a dear friend, Eloise Harrell; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.She was an Angel that has taken wings to be with her heavenly father.
