HARRIS Shirley (nee Vinitsky), a 50 year resident of Bergen County, of Hackensack, formerly of Teaneck, passed away at her daughters' home in Auburn, NY on Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012. Beloved wife of popular comedian Van Harris. Devoted mother of Daniel Harris and his wife Sally of Ridgecrest, CA, Andrew Harris and his wife Lori of Montpiler, VT, David Harris and his wife Janet Ngai of Massies Mill, VA and Madelaine Harris and her husband Mark Leinwand of Auburn, NY. Cherished grandmother of David, Douglas, Jason, Max, Evan, Baikal and Clancy. Great-grandmother of Abraham, Samuel, Benjamin, Arthur and Felicia. Sister of Herman Vinnet. Sister-in-law of Yussie Harris. Shirley was the Activity Director and Master of Ceremony at Pineview Hotel in Fallsburg, NY and also assisted her husband, Van, in numerous comedy acts at resorts on club dates and also on a multitude of cruise ships all over the world. Van often referred to Shirley as his own Gracie Allen. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 7, 2012 at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West), Fair Lawn, NJ. Burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. Memorial donations in memory of Shirley Harris may be made to the Humane Society.
