CROMWELL - Shirley Emma (Port) Lee, 76, of Cromwell, formerly of Meriden, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Middlesex Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Gussie (Zimmerman) Port, born Sept. 7, 1931. She married the love of her life, the late Maxwell Lee, on Oct. 21, 1956, to whom she was married for over 50 years. A devoted mother, Bubbie, sister, aunt, and friend to all. Shirley is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lee and wife, Cindy of Wallingford; her daughter, Marcy Casey and her husband, Jim, with whom she made her home; She is also survived by six grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Kayte, Bonnie, and Tara Lee; Josh, Sarah, and Jake Casey; and also by her loving sister, Marcia Kosofsky of Pompano Beach, Fla. She graduated Meriden High School class of 1949, where she was head cheerleader. She attended art school in New Haven and loved to create with her hands. She was an accomplished knitter and avid gardener. She devoted her life to her family and friends and was always there when someone needed a helping hand. She was a past member of Temple B'nai Abraham. She will be remembered for her ability to see beauty in the world and the nature around her, as well as the positive side of everything. She will be greatly missed by all whom she loved.Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at B'nai Abraham Cemetery, Corrigan Ave., Meriden with Rabbi Seth Riemer officiating. A period of mourning will be observed at her late residence, 12 High Ridge Road, Cromwell, from Sunday, Feb. 10 through Wednesday, Feb. 13 between 4 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road, Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457, American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450 or the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit, c/o Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.
