BANNING, Shirley (Pat) Elizabeth - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pat Banning (nee Keenan) on January 20, 2014 in her 87th year. Toronto-born, Pat was a potter, a painter, a poet, a voracious reader and a wily raconteur, known for her caustic wit. Pat was a great believer in "a good story" and apropos of her love of language, an avid wordsmith, to which her many years as an editor for McGraw Hill and Methuen attest. She is beloved by her daughters Kathleen (Kassy), Nancy and Megan Banning; grandchildren Emma Brookfield, Keenan Tamblyn, Jack Brookfield and Camille Crichlow; and sons-in-law Warren Crichlow and Moss Brookfield. Pat's love for life and laughter will be sorely missed. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 4 p.m. at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, 106 Trinity St., Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amnesty International or to a charity of your choice.
