DAVIS Sheila Davis, widow of John E. Davis of Fairfield Center and daughter of the late Blanche Morawski and Paul Driscoll of Gardiner, Mass., died Thursday, September 10, 2009 in her home after a 3 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by two brothers, David Driscoll of Jupiter, Fla. and John Driscoll of Glastonbury; a sister, Patricia Sampson of Burlington, Vt. and Jensen Beach, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Driscoll of Glastonbury and Sally Davis Factor of Easton. In addition, she leaves loving nieces and nephews, Kevin Driscoll of South Windsor, James Driscoll of Fairfield, Lisa Balfanz of Glastonbury, goddaughter, Pamela Malone of Chicago, Susan Driscoll of Arizona, Thomas and John Davis of Fairfield, Sharon Scott of Stratford, Laura Soule of Granby, Greg Davis of Middletown; and many cousins and their families. Sheila had a wide range of friends from the Bridge and Garden Clubs and other Fairfield historical and cultural groups. She volunteered in several capacities, her favorite being the Pequot Library. Having received a BA from The University of Massachusetts and an MA from Fairfield University, Sheila taught in the Scarsdale and Fairfield school systems before working as a legal assistant at Union Carbide and Richardson Vick. After the death of her husband, Sheila toured the world with treasured friends showing her love of opera and great works of art. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Rd., Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, if one so desires, to either the charity of one's choice or to the John Murren Nevada Cancer Institute, Office of Development, 1 Breakthrough Way, Las Vegas, NV 89135.
