SEALS Mary Will Seals, age 88, residing in Jacksonville, Florida died peacefully on January 22, 2010 at Community Hospice shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Mary was born in St. Marys, Georgia where she spent her childhood and graduated from St. Marys High School. She joined the United States Army serving in the WAC Battalion, Technician Fifth Grade, receiving the bronze star for the New Guinea campaign, good conduct medals, American theater ribbon, WAAC ribbon, as well as the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon and 2 overseas service bars. She was honorably discharged in 1945. Mary later joined the Naval Reserve, NR Air Wing 74S stationed at NAS Jax. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida she began a career as a bookkeeper and worked in that capacity for several local businesses until her retirement. Mary joined the Arlington United Methodist Church in 1972 and was very active with the church up until her last days. Mary was predeceased by her parents, William and Jessie May Seals, her sisters, Martha, Margaret, Annette, and brothers, Winfred, Joseph, and Newton. She is survived by her sister-in-law RosaMae Seals, three generations of nieces and nephews and many dear friends from the church and throughout her life. She will be missed by us all. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Arlington Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Shields, Rev. David Roddy, and Dr. John C. Haney officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Oakgrove Cemetery in St. Marys, GA. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday (today) at HARDAGE-GIDDENS CHAPEL HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd.
