Royston - Mrs. Sarah Sue Fortson Adams of the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, formerly of Danielsville, Ga., died Monday, March 8, 2010. She was born November 20, 1931, in Madison County, Ga. daughter of King David and Birdie Mae Carithers Fortson and was the 11th of 15 children.Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and worked in several area sewing plants. She had an in home daycare for many years, and she retired from General Times in 1989 due to failing eye sight. She always lived within 20 miles from where she was born and raised.She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, the late Herman Adams, and was his caregiver for four years prior to his death. She then decided to sell the family home to Evangelical Methodist Church so they could build a Family Life Center. She was a resident of the Gables in Royston, Ga., where she had numerous friends and adventures. In late 2006, she broke a second hip. Due to her lack of sight and frailty she became a resident of Brown Memorial Convalescent Center. She had her hair and fingernails done every week and loved playing Bingo. She had friends there and enjoyed friend and family visits. She enjoyed good physical health most of her life.Mrs. Adams is survived by three children, Lee Douglas Adams, Herman Daniel Adams and Ophelia Adams Hart; one brother, King Fortson Jr.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters, James, Alson, Bethune, Early, Thelma, Sally, Emma Ruth, Mildred, Mary, Edna, Linda, Carolyn and Janice.Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Peek officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.The body is at the Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening.
