Funeral services honoring the life of Sarah Phillips Harrell Cox, 84, Glencoe, who went to be with her Lord Friday, April 10, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Bill Harbison will be officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.Sarah was born in Lincoln on Feb. 17, 1925, to the late Oscar L. and Rosa Gardner Phillips. She attended school at Lincoln and married W. Elic Harrell on May 19, 1942.Mother was a good "down home" cook who taught us all when we were young. She was a quality seamstress who made most of our clothes when we were growing up, as well as teaching us all to sew. She loved doing crafts and made well over 1,000 beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments. She was an excellent quilter who pieced and quilted dozens of beautiful, warm quilts for her family and others over the years. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by us all. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir until her health prevented her from regular attendance.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elic Harrell, father of her children, and W.J. "Jack" Cox; daughter, Ellen Wilson; grandson, Freddie Foster; sisters, Jewel Tadlock, Marguerite Talley and Louise Richardson; and brothers, Hubert, Houston, Oscar Jr. and Roy Phillips, Donald and Merle Woodard.She is survived by daughters, Lucille Elliott, Sue (Terry A.) Clotfelter and Rosa Ellis; chosen granddaughter, Pamela McGee; grandchildren, Mary Dryer, Kenneth (Sherry) Ragan, Michael Rowe, Scott Ragan, Jason Ellis, Shannon Driver, Victor "Trey" Wilson, Claire Wilson, Steve (Michelle) Clotfelter, Terry D. (Christy) Clotfelter and Brian (Tracie) Clotfelter; great-grandchildren, Kimberley Ragan, Cody and Jordan Wright, Thomas, Dakota and Jeffrey Brothers, Whitney and Logan Rowe, Matthew, David, Tiffany and Kelsey Clotfelter, Marissa Amberson, Rebecca, Christopher and Danielle and Joshua Cash; great-great-granddaughters, Briley Sitz Wright and Emma Leigh Wright; sisters, Geraldine Haynes and Dorothy Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.Honorary pallbearers will be Drs. H.B. Thompson and Adrian A. Chandler.Special thanks to the seventh-floor nursing staff at GRMC and staff of Southern Care Home Health Services.The family will be accepting friends from 6 until 8 Monday evening at Collier-Butler, as well as 10 until 11 Tuesday morning at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
