Mother Sarah Mildred Masslieno-Lee, 94, of Panama City, Fla., passed this life on Nov. 30, 2013.Mother Sarah Mildred Lee began her journey on earth, Sept. 30, 1919 at Redfish Point (Now known as Tyndall Air Force Base) being born the fifth child of Narcisco "Hawk" Masslieno and Mary Smith-Masslieno. Her father "Hawk" was one of the most famous historical figures and mid 1800's pioneers. Mother Lee's family's history is recorded in many places among them is the Bay County Public Library.Mother Lee shared hr early years with seven siblings, five brothers and two sisters who preceded her in death; Jerry, Frank, Sr., Rudolph, Lynva, L.J., Sr., Mary Belle Marshall and Helen Baker.She was educated on Red Fish Point, Bay County, Fla. Her grandfather Jose' and father Narcisco were community leaders for that location. Mother Lee united with the congregation of which her father was a founder, namely New Judson Missionary Baptist Church. Later she met and married her husband Edward Lee, Sr., who preceded her in death. To that union five children were conceived of which two preceded her in death, Edward Lee, Jr. and Donald Lee.Sister Lee was the church Mother and also served in the capacity of trustee and choir member. She remained faithful; attending all services, meetings and other functions until her health began to fail and she was no longer able to attend. Fishing, sewing and plants were her hobbies. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mother Lee was an astute business woman who assisted her husband in managing their business, Lee's Gulf/BP Station for many years.She leaves to cherish precious memories of the time she spent with them here on earth; tow sons, Dan Lee (Beverly), Wardell Lee (Mamie); one daughter, Mildred Lee Jackson; two daughter-in-laws, Lillie Lee and Betty Lee; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Joe Lee (Lola) and Frank Lee (Brenda); two sister-in-laws, Noretha Lee Jones and Mabel Lee and other relatives and sorrowing friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby White, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
