HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- Sarah L. Allen, 80, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Lifecare Center of Hendersonville following a period of declining health.She was born in Marshall, a daughter of the late Craig L. Rudisill and Elsie Wilfong Rudisill, and had also resided in New York and Vermont prior to moving to the Hendersonville area more than 21 years ago.She was graduated from the Women’s College UNC Greensboro with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1944. She was employed as a research chemist with the Texas Company in Beacon, N.Y., Tansitor Electronics in Bennington, Vt. and Hilton Industries of Glens Falls, N.Y. A life member of the Nature Conservancy, she was also a longtime member of the Second Congregational Church of Bennington, Vt.She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Stewart E. Allen; two daughters, Karen Peck of Greenville, S.C. and Deborah R. Allen and her husband Howard K. Schein of Urbana, Ill.; a son, Craig S. Allen and his wife Lynne of Shrewsbury, Mass.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Sarah Peck, Stevie Scarlett Schein, Zoe Savannah Schein and Cassandra Lynne Allen; one great-grandchild, Morgan Kelly Dowling; and a brother, Craig L. Rudisill Jr. of Marshall.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2004, at the auditorium of Lake Pointe Landing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the University of North Carolina Cancer Center, UNC Medical School, Chapel Hill, NC, 27599 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
