Davis, Sarah E. EAST GREENBUSH Sarah E. Davis, 86, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in her beloved home in East Greenbush. Sarah was born in Richmond, Vt., the daughter of the late Charles and Fannie (Barnett) Simons. She grew up in Ravena along with her late beloved brothers, James and Charles D. Simons. Sarah graduated from Ravena High School in 1945 and later, in her working years, attended HVCC. Sarah worked at Montgomery Ward, as well as New York State Tax and Finance, before finishing her 40-year career as a student loan coordinator at SUNY. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred E. Davis, and oldest daughter, Coline McCarty. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Linda A. Howes, and two sons, Alfred H. Davis and Michael D. Davis, as well as Michael's wife and Sarah's "gem," Judy; her grandson and wife, Christopher and Serena Howes; her son-in-law, Dennis McCarty and her furry constant companion Chubs. To know Sarah, was to love Sarah. She always put everybody's needs above her own. Her life motto was "Make It Good." Sarah loved to travel, visit historic places, talk politics, watch baseball, along the way eating as much ice cream as possible. She was an excellent cook, loved to entertain, and the door was always open for coffee and cookies. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. The family has asked that those who wish to honor Sarah's memory by making contributions to the East Greenbush Methodist Church, 1 Gilligan Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061.
