Sara Jane Allen, age 83, of Springfield, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2005. She was residing at Primrose Place during a brief illness. Mrs. Allen was married to Edgar E. Allen for 40 years. He preceded her in death in 1981. Her parents, Albert and Maude Brewer, also preceded her in death. Sara retired from Lily Tulip Factory where she served for 30 years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Springfield, where she was a children's worker in the church nursery. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, fishing, traveling and watching the St. Louis Cardinal's baseball team. Sara is survived by her two sons, James Allen, of Gulf Port, Miss., and Eddie "Joe" Allen, of Thailand. She also has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Additional, she is survived by her life long friend and caretaker, Edna Melvin. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 29, 2005, at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
