SMITH Sara Butler Smith passed away December 24, 2001 at home. Sara was born August 9, 1911 in Russellville, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan H. Smith. Sara was a member of San Jose Country Club and the River Club. The daughter of Lewis Cornell Butler and Mary Louise Withers Butler, Sara was the next youngest of seven Kentucky sisters and one brother, all preceding her in death. Her family moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1922. Sara leaves behind several generations of nieces and nephews to whom she played "Auntie Mame" . Aunt Saras love of family has and will continue to shape their hearts as well as their lives. Sara touched many lives. Her love and friendship helped guide her friends through their lives. The Butler family wishes to express our appreciation for the kindness and love shown to our Aunt Sara throughout her life. As Ivan has said many times, "Thank God for Sara". She is survived by her two grandsons, Mark Benton and his wife Dreama of St. Augustine, FL and Randall Benton and his wife Elizabeth of Jacksonville, FL and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M. Friday, December 28, 2001 in South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 2137 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207, with Dr. Vincent Kolb officiating. Active pallbearers will be; Tommy Entenza, Jeff Butler, Tony Butler, Emery Johnson, Dr. Victor Saenz and Phillip Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be; Watson Ramsey, Whitley Andrews, Brig. Gen. Vernon Sikes, Ret., Gary Agansky, Tom Donahoo, Roy Allen, LaVerne Reynolds, Dr. Curtis Collins, Bob Darby and Brian Free. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. Thursday at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME 4115 HENDRICKS AVE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com
