MCDONALD, Sandra Jo (nee Gibbons) Born March 18, 1947, passed away at Richmond General Hospital December 28, 2009 with her two boys and loving daughter in law at her side. Predeceased by her husband of almost 40 years, Richard, and her father, Jack Gibbons. She was an amazing, inspiring and brave woman who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her two sons Travis (Jennifer) and Tyler; mother Rose Marie; sister Donna (Ken); mother-in-law Margaret and dozens of other family members and close friends who meant the world to her. Sandi fought and beat the odds in a 12 year battle, astounding family, friends and doctors alike with her courage, tenacity and utter refusal to give in. She was an Orthoptist and a pioneer in her field; a lover of life whose motto "get out and enjoy the day" will continue to echo in our hearts and minds; a Supermom who was wholly devoted to and adored by her boys; a beloved wife who selflessly cared for Rick until the very end of his battle with ALS. A memorial service will be held Friday January 8, 2010 at Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Rd, Richmond, BC at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the BC Cancer Agency.
