JOHNSON, SANDRA GAIL, 62Sandra Gail Johnson "Sandy", age 62 of Flagler Beach, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at home. She was born May 28, 1951 at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, Florida to Leonard Charles and Louise Gann Johnson. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1969. Sandy began her career at the Alachua County Sheriff's Office while completing Santa Fe College for Law Enforcement training. At which time she entered into law enforcement and worked for Lauderhill Police Department and the University Police Department. She later worked with the State's Attorney Office in Gainesville and the Florida Keys and recently retired from the Monroe County Property Appraisers Office in the Keys. Sandy loved life to the fullest; she had a smile and laugh you could never forget. Her many joys in life included going to the beach and the mountains, Gator football, driving her Mustang, her cats and spending time with family & friends. Sandy is survived by her daughter, Valorie Diane (Jack) Sherrod of Gainesville; brother, Wayne C. (Debbie) Johnson of Gainesville; sister, Susie Pettry of Port Richey; grandsons, Jacob, Jarod and James; father of her daughter, Glen Crawford and grandmother of her daughter, Polly Santos all of Gainesville; many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Louise Johnson; grandparents, James O. and Mary (Granny) Johnson; brother Chris Johnson and her traveling companions, Bubba, Oscar and Annie. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 N.W. 143rd Street, Gainesville.
