<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Oct. 1, 1942 - Aug. 27, 2014 Sandra Robison Davenport, age 71, died peacefully at home with family and friends on August 27, 2014. She had fought a 10-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Sandra was born October 1, 1942, in Batesville, Mississippi, as the daughter of the late Lawrence Santifer Robison, Jr. and Sallie Mae Robison. A graduate of Millsaps College, she held a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. She enjoyed exercise, strenuous morning walks, her bridge groups, the 20th Century Study Club, delivering "meals on wheels" and serving as the volunteer bookkeeper of the Lake Martin Humane Society and Animal Shelter. She was a Ruling Elder and Women of the Church leader in the First Presbyterian Church of Alexander City, serving also as bookkeeper of the church day school. Sandra's giving sprit carried through her life by supporting PSP medical studies and clinical program at UAB in hope that through her a cure might one day be found. In June 1964, Sandra married the love of her life William E. (Gene) Davenport and in 1967 they had a son, Will. Over the course of 50 years she was an amazing wife and mother. Sandra will always be remembered as a beautiful person, inside and out. She was a kind person, quietly and selflessly supporting others any way that she could. Sandra's unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends was always evident. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. Sandra is survived by her husband Gene Davenport; son Will (Amy) Davenport; granddaughters Emma and Ella Davenport; her brothers Larry (Joni) Robison and Rocky (Diane) Robison; one niece and two nephews; and many other relatives and close friends. General information for friends and family: Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m., there will be a Visitation at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, with a Memorial Service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to either: (1) the UAB Department of Neurology for PSP Research, in support of the Sandra Davenport Program for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Patient Care and Research, mailed to 1720 2nd Ave South, Suite 360B, Birmingham, AL 35294-0017; or (2) Children's Harbor, 1 Children's Harbor Highway, Alexander City, AL 35010.
