SHARON GAYDAVIS, 80 LAKELAND - Sharon Gay Davis, 80, died August 31, 2012 at Wedgewood Healthcare Center due to heart failure. Mrs. Davis was born March 17, 1932 (St. Patrick's Day) in Lakeland and was a lifelong resident where she worked for Conibear Equipment and later retired from Auto Owners Insurance. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed photography, sewing and loved the Miami Dolphins. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Beauford L. Davis and her sister Mary Frances Lineberger. She is survived by her son Kenneth Davis (Chris) of Lakeland, brothers Charles "Buddy" Mitchell (Beverly), Gene Mitchell (Frances) and Bill Skelly. Also surviving are Mrs. Davis' grandchildren Andrea Sumner (Mike) and Matthew McCall (Misty) along with great grandchildren Pete, Clayton, and Gabrielle. We, as a family, wish to extend a very special "Thank You" to her loving caregivers Laura Evans and Donna Rayborn. The family will receive friends Friday 3 to 4 PM with funeral services to follow at 4 PM in the chapel of Lakeland Funeral Home.
