SANDRA M. "SANDY" ELIE CONCORD - Sandra May "Sandy" Elie, 63, of Concord died peacefully Monday, May 9, 2011, in The Pines Rehabilitation & Health Center in Lyndonville, with her loving family at her bedside. She was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Hardwick, the daughter of the late Charles K. and Evelyn (Proper) Bird. She graduated from Hardwick Academy in the class of 1965. On Jan. 30, 1970, she married Antonio "Tony" Elie II in Hardwick. They made their home in Concord for more than 38 years. She was employed at the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in Montpelier. Following her marriage she stayed at home to care for her young family. She and her husband were avid campers. She enjoyed crafts, photography, and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Antonio Elie II, of Concord; a daughter, Janice Elie and her companion, Michael Wright, of Hinesburg; a son, Antonio "Tony" Elie III and his wife, Mary, of Concord; brotherin-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Sharon Payeur of North Concord; five grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick with the Rev. Ernest Machia of the Hope Community Church in South Walden officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of ones choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Dian R. Holcomb of Northern Vermont Funeral Service, 60 Elm Street, Hardwick.
