Ruth Schiela Smith, 88, died April 12, 2013, at the Treasure Coast Hospice Residence, Stuart. She was born in Milwaukee and lived in Stuart for 31 years, coming from Short Hills, N.J. Before retirement, she was a rental manager for Harbour Ridge Country Club in Palm City. She served in the Coast Guard from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed in Miami. She was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart. She was a member of the Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart. Survivors include her son, Frank Hatton of Melbourne; stepson, David of Minneapolis; half brother, Craig Jantsch of Liverpool, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Hatton; and brother, Bill Schiela. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Presbyterian Church 4881 S.E. Cove Road, Stuart, FL 34997. Services: A memorial celebration will be at 2 p.m. April 30 at Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home & Crematory/Stuart Chapel.
