EWING - Ruth Joy Cross-Mitchell, affectionately known as "Peggy," passed away Jan. 16, 2011, at the age of 81.Born in Princeton, Peggy attended Princeton Regional Public Schools. She was employed for many years by the late Mayor of Princeton Township, The Honorable Josephine Hall. Peggy retired after many years of service with the Colby Mirzayanov family.Peggy was predeceased by her parents, the late Julius and Marjorie Cross, a sister, Alice Cross-Swan, a daughter, Joyce McGowan-Towler and a son, Conway McGowan.Peggy is survived by a sister, Martha Cross-Wells; two sons, George McGowan (Sandra) and Jerome McGowan (Linda); a special daughter, Gale Colby-Mirzayanov; four grandchildren, Reneé McGowan, Dawud Towler (Latonya), Imani McGowan and Nia McGowan; a special grandson, Ted Colby; nine great-grandchildren, Solomon Towler, Maiya McGowan, Thaila Thiangtham, Julian McGowan, Jaylin, Toriana, and Keyon Fishburne, Soleil and Chase Nock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 29) at Lighthouse Outreach Center, 715 Bellevue Ave., Trenton. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment Princeton Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
