Ruth I. Smith CAPE NEDDICK, Maine - Ruth I. Smith, 92, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 in York Hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Evanton, Ill. Ruth was married to George E. Smith Jr. for almost 64 years. She was a mother to her 4, children George Smith, Deborah Tetherly, Cynthia Tischendorf and Jeffrey Smith, grandmother to 5, Justin, Melissa, Lincoln, Heather and Kendra, great-grandmother to 4, Lily, Brinley, Will, and Ethan. In addition to her immediate family, Ruth had numerous surrogate "Kids" around the world through her volunteer work for UNH Foreign Student Association. Ruth lived in Cape Neddick, Maine and was an active member of the Cape Neddick Baptist Church. She will be missed by her surviving sister Bernice McAuliffe of Seattle, Wash. and Bernice's family, also her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends all around the World. A funeral Service for Ruth will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8th in the Cape Neddick Baptist Church, on River Road. Burial will be in the First Parish Cemetery.
