Ruth Maddox Hughes, 91, died Feb. 1, 2007, in Vero Beach. She was born in Fort Meade and was a part-time resident of North Carolina and Vero Beach. Before retirement, she worked for the office of the County Judge in Gainesville. Survivors include sons, Robert E. Clem of Fort McCoy and Chester Clem of Vero Beach; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Historical Society of Fort Meade, 1 N. Tecumseh Ave., Fort Meade, FL 33841. SERVICES:Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A private burial service will be in Fort Meade. Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
