Ruth H. Hayes, 85, Lakeland and formerly of Arcadia, died Oct. 18, 2004. She was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Oneonta, Ala., and moved to Arcadia while still an infant. She owned and operated a grocery store in Tallahassee prior to retiring. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. Survivors include nieces June Harben of Clearwater, Christine Howell of Clewiston, and Helen Luke of Tallahassee. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Glenn Moore Chapel, Florida Presbyterian Home in Lakeland. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia is in charge.
