COHOES Ruth F. Carpenter, 94, a retired teacher, beloved wife of the late Colonel Dale S. Carpenter, USAFR Ret., Cohoes, died November 29, 2003 in Littleton, Colo. at the home of her son. Born in Wolcott, N.Y., March 8, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Etta Bargy Fowler and the sister of the late Kenneth and Floyd Fowler, North Rose, N.Y. and a niece, Betty Ann Bramer of Clyde, N.Y. Mrs. Carpenter was active in the community and a former president of the mother's associations at the Albany Academy and St. Agnes School. She graduated from Oswego State College and taught first grade before retiring from the Lansingburgh School District. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Carpenter Maier and her husband Peter of Corning, N.Y. and her son, Dale S. Carpenter III and his wife Astrid of Littleton, Colo. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, David C. Maier of Ithaca, N.Y., Sara M. Maier of Boston, Mass., Scott E. Carpenter, John S. Carpenter, Katherine E. Carpenter, Brian C. Carpenter and James D. Carpenter, all of Littleton, Colo.; three step-grandchildren, Frank Rehberger of Berlin, Germany; Karen Rehberger of Tuebingen, Germany and Mark Rehberger of Littleton, Colo. She was the sister-in-law of the late Jessie L. Carpenter and the late Ansel D. Carpenter, both of Cohoes. Funeral from the Stanton-Farrell Funeral Home, 326 Columbia St., Monday, December 8, 2003 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may call prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, N.Y. Donations may be made to the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY 12047 in memory of Ruth F. Carpenter.
