MAYDAN, Ruth Elizabeth (nee Stuart) Passed away peacefully on August 15, 2006, at the age of 81 at the Glebe Centre, Ottawa Ontario. Ruth was born July 12, 1925 in Kisbey, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Winnipeg and educated at United College, University of Winnipeg, and the University of Toronto with degrees in Library Science and Education. She worked many years in the Winnipeg library system, and opened the St. Vital branch. In 1967, Ruth moved her family to Sudbury, ON, managing the library at Garson Falconbridge Secondary School and teaching English. Ruth spent many happy summers at the Clear Lake family cottage in Riding Mountain National Park with her children, her mother and friends. In 1985 Ruth retired to Winnipeg to be close to her family, where she helped care for and travel with her granddaughter, Valancy. Ruth loved reading, music, bowling, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and has always had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially dogs. Her passing is mourned by her family: Daughter Pamela, son- in-law Rick Penner and grandchildren Alannah and Alexander of Pointe du Bois, Manitoba; Daughter Jocelyn, son-in- law David Threinen of Hamilton, Ontario; Son Raymond; and son Michael and daughter-in-law Jan of Almonte, Ontario. Granddaughter Valancy and husband David Reynolds of Orleans, Ontario. The family would like to thank the staff at the Glebe Centre, Ottawa for the excellent care she received.
