Ruth E. Clarke, R.N. 1931 - 2008 TORONTO, ONT. - Ruth Elizabeth Clarke, R.N., of the Rekai Center, Toronto, Ont. and formerly of the North Napan Road, Napan, passed away at her residence, on Tuesday evening, March 4, 2008, at the age of 76. Born in Chatham, on December 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William and Freda (Neilson) Gilliss. She was a homemaker; a nurse by profession, graduating from the Miramichi Hospital School of Nursing and worked in both Ontario and British Columbia. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. She is survived by three daughters, Valerie, Roseanne, Peggy, both of Ontario; two sons, Robbie and Phillip, both of Ontario; six sisters, Aletha Constable (Joe), of Riverview, Isabel Smith (John), of Dartmouth, N.S., Arlene MacNaughton, of Black River Bridge, Evelyn Davenport (Jerry), of Abbottsfort, B.C., Christina Sturgeon (Roland), of North Napan Road, Pauline Myles (Terry), of Boom Road; two brothers, Harry Gilliss, of Boston, Mass., USA and Carl Gilliss (Elaine), of Miramichi; also numerous nieces and nephews, especially Kandy and Carmen, who were so attentive to Ruth's needs over the past number of years. She was predeceased by four sisters, Mildred Gilliss, Willamina Gilliss, Joyce Dickson and Gladys Russell; three brothers, James, William and Ralph Gilliss. Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Sunday, March 9, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 3 pm, conducted by Pastor Willard Watling. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi, later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
