Ruth Elaine Kimball, 72 SOUTH PORTLAND -- Ruth Elaine Kimball, 72, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 13, 2014. She was born Ruth Elaine O'Donnell in Portland on June 27, 1942, to parents Philip T. and Thelma J. O'Donnell. Ruth had a wonderful childhood growing up on Munjoy Hill in Portland, attending her beloved Cathedral School, spending time 'up country' with family and playing with friends. On May 7, 1960, she married her loving husband of 54 years, Peter J. Kimball Sr. Peter and Ruth raised three beautiful children, Sister Christine, Gardi and Jeff. Ruth's professional career spanned 37 years as a Unit Secretary in PACU at Maine Medical Center. She had a wonderful Irish sense of humor, loved life, people and her pets. Her kindness had no limits, she was always there for her family and friends to talk to, to give a hug or a special 'I love you dear' to her children when they needed it. Ruth will be missed dearly but her love for her family and friends will stay with us always. Ruth's loving family includes husband Peter; daughters Christine and Gardi, son Jeff; grandsons Zakry and Cassidy; great-grandson Jordan; sisters Patty and Maryjane, brother Philip; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Portland.
