Ruth E. Burgess, 86, Ormond Beach, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Avante Rehabilitation Center. Ruth was born December 23, 1920, in Underhill, Vt. She graduated in 1939 from Crown Point High School, New York. She was a real estate agent before retiring with her family in 1962 to Daytona Beach. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Elizbethtown Fish and Game Club, the Lewis Pony Club, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Ormond Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hubert E. Burgess. She is survived by her children, Ruth Anne McBain, Holly Hill, Marilyn McDowell, Bartow, Nancy and Joe Adams, Windermere, Barbara and Ken Frey, Ormond Beach; sister, Emma Jean Williams, Ticonderoga; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in Ormond Beach and graveside services will be held in Lewis, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation.
