Ruth Wilbanks Carter, 78, wife of Henry Fletcher Carter, of 130 Whetstone Cove Road, died Saturday, May 19, 2001. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Virgil (Buck) and Addie Swafford Wilbanks. She was as homemaker and a member of the Mountain Rest Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Carter is survived by a son, Jack Carter and wife, Kita, of Mountain Rest; daughters, Linda Lowery and husband, Bobby, and Shelby Phillips and husband, Donald, both of Mountain Rest; grandchildren, Robby Lowery and Brittany Carter; and great-grandchild, Kole Lowery. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, at Mountain Rest Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The body is at Davenport Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today and will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The family is at the home of son, Jack Carter, 151 Whetstone Cove Road, Mountain Rest.
