CARPENTER--Ruth C. The Shakespeare Society community is deeply saddened at the passing of our beloved colleague Ruth Carpenter. Since the founding of The Society, in a series of remarkable Shakespeare seminars, Ruth generously shared with us her penetrating insight, vast erudition, joyous wit and open heart. New York's theatrical community also benefited immeasurably from Ruth's enthusiasm and knowledge. Those theater artists lucky enough to have had Ruth as an adviser came away encouraged and enlightened. Ruth was a stellar teacher, a wise mentor and the best friend one could ever have.
