Bryant, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at her residence. She was born August 30, 1925, in Greensboro, NC., and was the daughter of the late A.J. and Maude Underwood Barbour. She attended Annie Kate White School for Girls, Pineland High School in Salemburg, NC., and took her business training at UNC, Greensboro. She was employed by Traveler's Insurance Company and the Kendall Company in Charlotte, before her marriage and moving to Greenville. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Good Neighbor Sunday School Class, and Circle #7.She was the last surviving member of her family, having being predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her son Hal and his wife Lee, granddaughter Katie Bryant, and great-granddaughter Amelia, all of Shelby, NC. Ruth, and her family were most appreciative to her longtime, very devoted and loving caregivers, LaShun Rosemond, Sharon Mansell, and Rita Moraney. These women were always there for Ruth and she was always grateful for their help, love and friendship. Also, the family is very appreciative to nurses Michael Gaasch and Lisa Murphy, and the rest of the team at Open Arms Hospice, for their kind service and very professional care.Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.Burial will be private.Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 200 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601 and Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
