Ruth Shipman Bryant, wife of the late Norwood C. Bryant, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, at her home.Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Elton G. and Susan McMinn Shipman. Mrs. Bryant was owner and retired from Ruth's Beauty Shop, and was a member of Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall of Easley.Surviving are her daughters, Judy Knoblauch (Gene), Joyce Barnes (Ronnie), Gayle Barrett (Ken); son, Larry Bryant (Elnora); son-in-law, Ralph Alverson; sister, Ethel Tester; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Alverson; and seven brothers.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at Grand View Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.The family will be at the home of Larry Bryant.Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC 29605.Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.thehowzemortuary.com.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
