CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Ruth Alice Carroll, 68, a lifelong resident of Cambridge, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness.Born Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1936, at the family home, she was the youngest of the 11 children of Frank and Samantha Young Weber. She received her education at Buskirk School.Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Her loving home was where everyone gathered. There was always a pot of coffee, a table to gather around and a kind, listening ear.Ruth loved animals, especially dogs. She always had several and was especially fond of her dog, Allie.Survivors include her four children, Colleen Piekarz of White Plains, Darlene Darfur of Cambridge, Suzanne Mullen of Cambridge and William M. Carroll of Saratoga Springs; two sisters, Charlotte Harrington of Cambridge and Patricia Kelly of Bennington, Vt.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews.Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ackley and Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.Father Paul Baker of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will officiate at the funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 52, Cambridge, NY 12816 or to an animal shelter of your choice.
